Crafting a unique retail & event space targeting residents livin in + experiencing Cincinnati’s emerging urban core.
Strategy: To provide a lifestyle destination; an inspiring, engaging, wine experience that functions at retail, tasting and event levels in downtown Cincinnati, OH. Corkopolis is a brand extension of it’s flagship store, Cork ’N Bottle, located just across the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky.
Solution: In creating this brand concept, I collaborated with a top retail wine expert, the architect specializing in design-build, and the investors / new stakeholders. Located in a unique urban space, Corkopolis sells on premise and on-tap fine wines, craft beer, single barrel bourbons, and signature cocktails. There is also space for private events, a cellar-temperature room where catered food can be brought in for pairing with wines. The Corkopolis experience is geared for discovery; From regularly scheduled tastings to drop-in shopping, this retailer provides customers the opportunity to taste before they buy, experience the story behind the label, and find the best wines for any occasion.
As flexibility for retail and/or bar and event space is crucial, functionality is provided with design of mobile floor palates, refrigeration units, and easily configured tables and chairs. The palates are specifically sized to hold stacked cases of wine, and fitted with industrial wheels. These can be locked down or unlocked and moved as needed for use of the floor area.
